Free Eye Surgeries Under Ayushman Bharat Scheme Underway in J&K; Urge Public to Avail Benefits
Each family can receive treatment worth up to Rs. 5,00,000 per year under Ayushman
Free Eye Surgeries Under Ayushman Bharat Scheme Underway in J&K; Urge Public to Avail Benefits: Government Medical College (GMC) and Associated Hospital, Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, is currently conducting free eye surgeries under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, ANI reported.
The surgeries include cataract operations, and medicines are also provided free of cost for most patients. Authorities are urging people to take advantage of the facility.
Superintendent of GMC & AH, Dr. Shamim Ahmed Choudhary, told ANI, "Ayushman is catering to many patients (all indoor patients). We are also covering cataract surgeries. Today, about 17 patients underwent cataract surgery. The surgeries are covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. I appeal to people to avail this facility, as it is a government hospital providing free operations. Each family can receive treatment worth up to Rs. 5,00,000 per year under Ayushman. Everything, from surgery to medicines, is free."
Ayushman in-charge at GMC Rajouri, Dr. Suresh Kumar, stated that most patients come from three districts: Poonch, Reasi, and Rajouri.
Junaid Shah, son of a beneficiary, told ANI, "My father had a problem with his eye... I thank the government and GMC Rajouri. I was told that the operation would cost Rs. 30,000 in private hospitals, but it was free of cost here."
