PCS Prelims Results Declared; 331 Posts Merit List Out
On Saturday, the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) officially announced the results for the Punjab State Civil Services Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination-2025.
The recruitment drive is to fill 331 high-profile vacancies, including positions for DSP, Tehsildar, Excise and Taxation Officer, and Food and Civil Supplies Officer.
The preliminary test was held on December 7 across 165 centres. According to official data, out of 85,192 registered candidates, approximately 33,000 (40%) appeared for the preliminary exam. Ludhiana recorded the highest attendance with more than 18,000 aspirants.
Candidates can now access the merit list and revised answer key on the official PPSC website (ppsc.gov.in).
However, the result announcement has sparked a controversy involving Misal Satluj, a student organisation advocating for Punjabi language and culture. Led by representative Yadavinder Singh Yadu, along with aspirants and civil society activists, the group staged a protest outside the PPSC head office in Patiala.
It claimed that Punjabi has been “deliberately and excessively reduced” in this year's PCS preliminary exam. Yadu pointed out that in the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) Paper II, where 15–25 questions were previously asked in Punjabi, only eight questions were included this year.
The organisation argued that this shift puts rural students at a significant disadvantage.
