Heavy snow and rain expected today

Himachal Pradesh weather update today: India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in Himachal Pradesh for February 19, as a precaution, with heavy to very heavy rain or snowfall accompanied with hail, gusty wind speed 40-50 kmph and lighting at isolated places.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall, snow and thunderstorms accompanied with hail and gusty winds on Monday and Tuesday in parts of Himachal Pradesh.

The India Meteorological Department Shimla center gave a warning on Sunday issuing an orange alert. They also said there's a yellow warning for heavy rain, snow, thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning in some areas on February 20 and 21. 

Surendar Paul, the director of India Meteorological Department, Shimla, said that the weather will get better from February 21, but there might still be some isolated rainfall even after that. The minimum temperature is expected to be normal to slightly lower than usual, while the maximum temperature is expected to be lower than usual for the next five days.

On Sunday, the temperature during the day went above 20 degrees Celsius in some places. It reached 20.2°C in Dhaulakuan, 22.3°C in Una, and 20.2°C in Bilaspur.
