MLA Gurpreet Singh GP switched to the Aam Aadmi Party
Lok Sabha Election 2024, Gurpreet Singh GP joins AAP: In a major blow to the Congress party ahead of the Lok Sabha election 2024, former MLA Gurpreet Singh GP switched to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday.
Gurpreet Singh previously served as MLA for the Bassi Pathana Assembly constituency in Fatehgarh Sahib district, securing victory in 2017. However, he faced defeat in the 2022 Assembly elections when he contested for the same seat.
Punjab's Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer expressed optimism about the AAP's prospects in Fatehgarh Sahib with the inclusion of Gurpreet Singh, citing a boost for the party. Gurpreet Singh cited 'lack of discipline' within the Congress party as his reason for departure, highlighting his admiration for the work done by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
"I admire CM Bhagwant Mann's integrity. That's why we're joining the AAP. Today, at the common people level, people only talk about the AAP," stated Gurpreet Singh upon joining the party.
Meanwhile, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer emphasized that decisions regarding tickets will be made by the party's political affairs committee.
