Free Movement Regime Between India and Myanmar Suspended: Union Home Ministry, led by Amit Shah, has decided to stop the Free Movement Regime (FMR) between India and Myanmar. This step is taken to keep our country safe and maintain the population balance in the northeastern states bordering Myanmar, as mentioned by Amit Shah on Thursday.
Amit Shah explained that because the Ministry of External Affairs is working to get rid of this agreement, the Home Ministry suggests stopping it right away. This decision is like putting a pause on the rule that allowed people to move freely between India and Myanmar.
The main reason behind this is to make sure our country's internal security is strong, and it also has to do with keeping the population structure balanced in the northeastern states that share a border with Myanmar. It's a step towards ensuring safety and maintaining a stable situation in these areas.
Since the ministry of external affairs is currently in the process of scrapping it, the home ministry has recommended the immediate suspension of the FMR,” he further said in a post on X.
