UP To Become First State Setting Up Cyber Police Stations In Each Of It's Districts?

Claim

The office of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath shared information on 29 February 2024 through its social media handle that Uttar Pradesh is becoming the first state to set up cyber crime police stations in each of its districts.

CM Yogi's office "CM Office, GoUP" tweeted on X on 29 February 2024 claiming that Uttar Pradesh is becoming the first state to set up cyber crime police stations in each of its districts. The tweet read, "UP is leading the way in cyber security! Uttar Pradesh is the first state in India with cyber police stations in all 75 districts, and every police station has a dedicated cyber cell. Over 1.6 lakh new police personnel have been recruited & 1.5 lakh+ received well-deserved promotions under the #UPCM @myogiadityanth's government."

Rozana Spokesman has found the viral claim to be misleading in its investigation. UP will not become the first state to create cyber police stations in every district, before Uttar Pradesh, State of Haryana, Maharashtra and Bihar have created cyber police stations in each of its districts.

Verification

Starting the investigation, we first searched keywords on the matter.

Before Uttar Pradesh, State of Bihar, Maharashtra and Haryana had set up cyber police stations in each of its districts. According to an Indian Express report published on 3 November 2016, Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to open cyber police stations in each of its districts. While sharing the news, the media outlet wrote the headline, "Maharashtra first to launch cyber police stations in all districts"

Similarly, according to the news of Times Now dated June 25, 2022, Haryana is going to open cyber police stations in each of its districts.

Moreover, according to the Times of India article published on June 10, 2023, the state of Bihar has opened 44 cyber police stations in its 38 districts.

Hence, it is clear that Uttar Pradesh is not becoming the first state to set up cyber police stations in each of its districts.

"First cyber police station in the country was opened in Bengaluru, Karnataka in 2001."

Conclusion

Rozana Spokesman has found the viral claim to be misleading in its investigation. UP will not become the first state to create cyber police stations in every district, before Uttar Pradesh, State of Haryana, Maharashtra and Bihar have created cyber police stations in each of its districts.
