Mahashivratri 2024, Famous Shiva Mandir in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula: Mahashivratri, also called 'The Great Night of Shiva,' is a major celebration dedicated to Lord Shiva, observed throughout India. Devotees fast all day and stay awake all night in prayer. This year, Mahashivratri falls on March 8, 2024.

It's a significant event in Hindu culture, symbolizing devotion to Lord Shiva. Temples across the country witness a surge of devotees seeking blessings and participating in rituals.

Famous Shiv Temples in Chandigarh Tricity:

Pracheen Shiv Mandir: There is a special Shivalaya in Chandigarh, where Jalabhishek of Lord Bholenath is done every day with the water of the well. There is an ancient well in the ancient Shiva temple (Shivalay Khempuri) of Sector-24. The temple management has preserved it. To prevent any dirt from entering this well, it has been covered from above. A net has also been installed all around. 

Shiv Manas Mandir at tribune chowk in Chandigarh. This Shiv Manas Mandir features a Shiva temple and a shani temple. The temple boasts a huge Shivling and a tall statue of Lord Shiva, Visible from a distance. Shiv Manas Mandir is located at Industrial area phase 2, Chandigarh.

Prachin Shiv Mandir Mohali: Prachin Shiv Mandir in Mohali phase 1 Sahibjada Ajit Nagar (S.A.S) is one of the most popular listed under Hindu Temple in Chandigarh.

Saketri Shiv Mandir: Saketri Shiv Mandir located in the Panchkula district of Chandigarh, is an anciet temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, beleived to have been built during the pandava dynasty. The temple constructed in white marble, features for well-cut cones of equal height topped with gold domes. Colourful flowers adorn the shivling during Mahashivratri celebrations.
