In a shocking incident, an FIR has been registered against the Indian hockey player in Bengaluru for allegedly raping a woman multiple times on the pretext of marriage. According to information, the woman, who is now 21, has alleged that the hockey player Varun Kumar raped her multiple times in the past five years, on the pretext of marriage.

According to information, the complainant was 17 when she came in contact with Varun Kumar through Instagram in 2019 when he was training at the Sports Authority of India. Varun Kumar hails from Himachal Pradesh. He shifted to Punjab for Hockey and made his debut for the Indian team in 2017. He was also a part of team who won a silver medal at the 2022 Birmingham-Commonwealth Games.

Besides, Varun was also a part of the team that won gold in the 2022 Asian Games and a member of India's bronze medal winning team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.In the meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against Varun Kumar under the POCSO Act while the officials stated that Varun is on the run and that they are trying to find him. 

Varun Kumar is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a defender for Punjab Warriors in the Hockey India League and the Indian national team.
