Punjab Govt Offices Timings Change Latest News Today

Punjab Government Offices Timings Change News: The Punjab Government has intended to modify the operational timings of its government establishments on April 1. In view of the coming summer season, these offices will implement three separate schedules.

The announcement to alter office hours came after a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister in Chandigarh on Saturday, coinciding with the introduction of several initiatives on the investigation start-up platform.

Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has announced a change in the operating hours of government offices, effective April 1. With the aim of conserving electricity and reducing traffic congestion during the summer, offices will now have varying opening times. While some of the offices would open at 8 am, others will open at 9 am, and some at 10 am.

Additionally, break times will also differ across these offices.

CM Bhagwant Mann highlighted the increased electricity demand during the summer months, particularly due to the use of air conditioning, prompting the government to make this decision to save energy.

He underscored the novelty of this decision, as previous governments had not addressed this issue. It is worth noting that until last year, Punjab's offices operated from 9 am to 5 pm. In response to the heat, the government experimented with opening offices from 7 am to 2 pm for a period, before reverting to the original timings."
