Andhra Pradesh 2023 Train Accident Latest News: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently made a big revelation on the 2023 Andhra Pradesh's train accident. He that "the driver and assistant driver of a passenger train involved in a fatal collision in Andhra Pradesh were watching a cricket match on their phones."
The train accident, which occurred on October 29, 2023, resulted in the death of 14 passengers and left over 50 injured in Andhra Pradesh.
The incident happened because both the loco pilot and co-pilot were distracted by the cricket match which was going on. "Now, we are installing systems which can detect any such distraction and make sure that the pilots and the assistant pilots are fully focussed on running the train," said Vaishnaw told Press Trust of India Videos.
He added, "We will continue to put our focus on safety. We try to find out the root cause of every incident and we come up with a solution so that it is not repeated.
Official Investigation
While the official report by the Commissioners of Railway Safety Common Reporting Standard is pending, a preliminary investigation found that the driver and assistant driver of the Rayagada Passenger train were at fault for ignoring two defective auto signals, violating safety regulations. Both crew members lost their lives in the collision.
The Andhra Pradesh train collision serves as a stark reminder of the importance of attentiveness and adherence to safety protocols while operating trains. Indian Railways' proactive approach to improving safety standards aims to prevent future accidents and ensure the well-being of passengers and railway personnel.
