Srinagar: Governor NN Vohra today visited the Chandanwari control gate and the Nunwan yatra camp to inspect arrangements for the ongoing Amarnath yatra which commenced from both Baltal and Pahalgam routes on June 29.
The Governor, who is also Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, took stock of the facilities at the Chandanwari control gate. He directed Sukhpal Singh, camp director, and all officers concerned of the district administration to ensure there was no impediment to the pilgrimage till its conclusion on August 7.
The Governor, accompanied by Jitendra Kumar Singh, Additional CEO of the shrine board, visited the langars at Chandanwari, interacted with the organisers and had a look at the food which had been prepared for the pilgrims.
At Nunwan, the Governor went round the base camp, visited the medical units set up by the state Health Department, Ayurveda Department and the CRPF. He also inspected the langars. Later, he chaired a meeting with camp director Sham Lal and all officers involved in the conduct of the yatra. He reviewed the arrangements regarding sanitation, functioning of sewage treatment plant, water and power supplies and medical units.
