Mandi: Rain caused losses worth crores in Mandi district this season by damaging public and private property in different parts of the district.

Mandi: Rain caused losses worth crores in Mandi district this season by damaging public and private property in different parts of the district.

The data received from the district administration revealed that heavy rain had caused a considerable loss to the Public Works Department (PWD), the Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Department and the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board (HPSEB) beside 72 houses were reported damaged so far.

The data shows that Rs 92.51 crore loss had occurred to the PWD, Rs 15.53 crore to the IPH and Rs 15.70 lakh to the HPSEB, respectively. Apart from this, 72 houses were damaged partially, which caused a loss of property worth Rs 94.94 lakh, while 87 cowsheds were also reported damaged in various parts of the district causing a loss worth Rs 2.76 crore.
