Munish Nagar: The US President Donald Trump never visited the village ‘Marora’ in Haryana but the craze for Trump led villagers to name it as “Trump’s village.”

Trump may be ignorant about the Indian festival ‘Rakhi’ but the Trump’s village has decided to send him 1001 Rakhis that celebrate the brother-sister bond. Dominated by Muslim population, the girls and women of this village will send Rakhis to US President. The objective behind the move is to strengthen ties between India and US.

The village got the Trump’s name by a NGO named Sulabh International Social Service Organisation head Bindeshwar Pathak. However, the authorities have refused the villagers to rename it on US President. But, the villagers call the village as Trump’s Village which is popular in the nearby neighboring areas.

The students have made 1001 rakhis with photos of Donald Trump and 501 rakhis for Narendra Modi. Women and girls of the village consider them their elder brothers. The consignment of rakhis was sent yesterday through cargo so that it reached the US president on Raksha Bandhan on August 7. The villagers are also sending invitations to the two leaders to visit the village. With inputs from PTI
