Faridabad: A Class VI student of Government Senior Secondary School at Saran village in the NIT area here was today crushed to death under a vehicle that had come to deliver mid-day meal. The police have arrested the driver of the vehicle and registered a case against him.
According to reports, the incident took place around 11.20 am when the driver of the vehicle, Amrit Pal, was preparing to return after delivering the food at the school kitchen. Laxmi Kumar (11), a Class VI student, was standing behind the vehicle when the driver was reversing it. The driver did not see the boy and the vehicle ran over him, injuring him grievously. He died before he could be taken to hospital. The police, which reached the school, arrested the driver. A case of negligent driving was registered against him, said a police official.
Chatar Singh, a founder member of the Haryana Primary Teachers Association, said the incident was unfortunate and no vehicle be allowed inside schools. He added the details of mid-day meal vehicles be verified properly. Meanwhile, two persons were killed and a few others injured when an auto-rickshaw they were travelling in collided with a truck in Hathin subdivision of Palwal district this noon. The police have registered a case.
