Karnal: Demanding implementation of the Persons with Disabilities, Act 1995, disabled friendly government offices, formation of the Disabled Welfare Commission, sports policy and welfare fund for disabled, scores of disabled across the state, who have been staging dharna in front of the Mini Secretariat for the last 10 days today took out a protest march on their tricycles.
They protested near the Chief Minister camp office and handed over a memorandum to the OSD to CM, Amrinder Singh, who assured them a meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar soon, but the disabled persons refused to lift their dharna and announced to continue it till August 15.
Phool Chand Yadav and Charan Singh Gagsina, leaders of the protesters, said they had constituted a seven member committee, which would meet the Chief Minister.
The names of the members have been given to the OSD to CM, who assured them a meeting with the CM. If the meeting was not held with the CM by August 15, they will intensify their stir across the state against the government, said Charan Singh.
