Ambala: Abhay Chautala, INLD leader, said today that the party would stage a symbolic protest by stopping vehicles at all major entry points through which people from Punjab enter Haryana on July 10.
Earlier, the INLD had announced to protest only in Ambala. He was here in the city to address party workers and assign them the duties for the protest. Addressing the party workers, Abhay said, “We had served an ultimatum to the Centre for the construction of the SYL. It’s time Punjab Government gives us our due in the river water. The canal is Haryana’s lifeline and the INLD will fight to get its water for the state.
We are not protesting to show our strength; we don’t need to do that. It is being done only to get the SYL water and pressure the Centre.” Speaking to mediapersons, he said, “Punjab shares its border with Haryana, but there are nearly five to six major points, including Dabwali, Dhanauri, Tohana, Shambhu barrier and Lalru, through which maximum number of people from Punjab enter Haryana. Besides the major entry points, the INLD workers would also stop Punjab vehicles coming from link roads.”
