Chandigarh: The Railway Claims Tribunal here today took suo motu cognisance of the murder of Junaid (16), a resident of Khandawali village in Ballabhgarh, and asked the Northern Railway General Manager to submit a detailed report in the matter.
The Tribunal also ordered the office superintendent to contact the parents of Junaid and help them in filing claim application before the Tribunal so that they could be duly compensated for the irreparable loss. The Tribunal has fixed August 28 as the next date of hearing in the case. Junaid was killed while three others, including his two siblings, suffered stab injuries in a dispute over a seat in the Palwal-bound EMU train.
“The brutal killing of this minor boy has pricked the conscience of this Tribunal,” said the Tribunal’s Chandigarh division bench, comprising judicial member and member (technical), in an order passed today.
They observed: “We feel that it is prima facie established that Junaid became sufferer of an untoward incident as he was stabbed to death on the train.”
“Accordingly, we, hereby order the GM, Northern Railway, to submit a detailed report along with photocopies of the entire record of the case either himself or through some of his subordinates on the next date of hearing. We also order the superintendent of this office to contact the parents/dependents of Junaid and help them filing claim application before this Tribunal.
