Hisar: Three assailants shot dead 40-year-old history-sheeter Pradeep Jamawari outside his house in Urban Estate Colony here last night. Pradeep Jamawari, a resident of Jamawari village in the district, was convicted in a case and had completed his jail term last year. He faced over 50 criminal cases and was involved in several hardcore criminal activities.
The police said Pradeep, alias Kala, a resident of Badala village in the district, visited him last night. He was also an accused in the case. He stayed at his house for over an hour. Kala then asked Jamawari to drop him at his destination. The video footage of a CCTV camera installed at Jamawari’s house revealed that as he tried to start his motorcycle, two assailants arrived there and opened fire at him. Savitri, Jamawari’s mother, and Charanjit, his friend, who were standing at the gate of the house, tried to save him, but were also shot at.
Mandeep Singh, Civil lines SHO, said the assailants were Kala’s accomplices. “Police teams have been dispatched to various locations in search of the trio,” said the SHO.
He said there was a dispute over a liquor vend and Kala had reportedly visited Jamawari to get the issue resolved. The police said Jamawari became a notorious criminal 20 years ago.
Om Prakash Yadav, Jamawari’s father, has been president of the Hisar Yadav Sabha and sarpanch of his village.
