Jhajjar: The police have arrested Satbir, alias Satte, a former sarpanch of Nilothi village in the district, on the charges of demanding extortion of Rs 5 crore from the MD of a footwear manufacturing company in Bahadurgarh and threatening him of dire consequence if the demand was not fulfilled.
“During interrogation, Satbir has revealed that two others persons identified as Rajender of Mandhothi village and Dharmendra of Rurkee village were also involved in the crime. The trio hatched a conspiracy to demand the extortion by sending a letter to the MD on June 27,” said Chaman Lal, police spokesman.
Lal said that Satbir was arrested from Bahadurgarh and sent into one-day police remand. He said Rajender had committed suicide by consuming poison. Raids were being conducted to arrest Dharmendra.
