Chandigarh: The Haryana Government has implemented a policy regarding the payment of ex-gratia lump-sum compensation to the families of personnel who die or sustain injuries while discharging election duties of panchayati raj Institutions or urban local bodies.

An official spokesman said that under the policy, in case of the death of an official during the course of performance of election duty, his family would be given an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 10 lakh.

Similarly, a compensation of Rs 20 lakh would be given in case of death caused due to violent acts of extremists or anti-social elements such as road mines, bomb blasts and armed attacks.

A compensation of Rs 10 lakh would be given in case of permanent incapacitation due to violent acts of extremists or anti-social elements like road mines, bomb blasts, armed attacks.

The spokesman said an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 5 lakh would be given to the official who suffers permanent incapacitation due to an injury sustained during the course of election duty.
