Ambala: The Haryana Beopar Mandal today threatened to launch an agitation if the Centre fails to make amendments to the GST.
Haryana Beopar Mandal president Bajrang Dass Garg said: “Confusion over the GST has made a negative impact on business. The GST rates are too high. The government should have introduced the GST with lower taxes. Some commodities such as clothes, sugar and agarbatti, which were earlier exempt from tax have been included in the GST now.”
“We are not against the GST but against several anti-trader provisions and higher tax slabs. The taxes are ultimately paid by the common man. The Centre should retain exemption on the items not taxed earlier and bring petrol and diesel under the GST. Nearly 50 per cent business is down due to the GST”, he claimed.
