Farmer Protest: Protesting Farm Unions Object to the Timing of Meeting Scheduled for Tomorrow latest news: Protesting farm unions have raised concerns over the timing of the second round of meetings between representatives of the central government and the protesting farmers.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at 6 PM on the evening of February 22 (Saturday) at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration in Chandigarh. However, farm unions had preferred Delhi as the venue for this meeting and future discussions.

Farm leaders have expressed concerns that holding the meeting in the evening could be a psychological tactic to exhaust them. They also claimed to have witnessed similar strategies used by the center during the 2020-21 farmers' protests.
The first round of talks between the two parties was also held in the evening too in Chandigarh.

Farm leaders further stated that if all meetings continue to be held in Chandigarh, it could create the perception that the issue is limited to Punjab and Haryana, rather than being a national concern.
Sarwan Singh Pandher, convener of the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), said, "What we assume is that the government is employing a strategy to exhaust farmers before the talks by delaying the meeting and stretching it until midnight."

On Wednesday, farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal released a short video stating that he would participate in the February 22 talks. The schedule of the meeting was communicated in a letter addressed to farmer leaders Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher on Wednesday by Union Agriculture Ministry Joint Secretary Purna Chandra Kishan.
