MSP Push Intensifies: SKM (NP) Announces Mega ‘MSP Bharat Jodo Yatra

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) has announced a nationwide campaign for a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP). According to the forum, the "MSP Bharat Jodo Yatra" will commence on February 7 from Kanyakumari and culminate with a "Kisan Mahapanchayat" in Delhi on March 19.

Farmer leaders launched a village-level campaign and a demand charter from Ballo village, the hometown of Shubhkaran Singh, who died during the 2024 protest. 

According to OECD data, Indian farmers lost INR 45 lakh crore between 2000 and 2017 and an additional INR 12.5 lakh crore in 2022-23 alone due to the absence of MSP.

According to the official demand charter, the farmers are seeking MSP based on the Swaminathan Commission’s C2+50% formula. 

Among other key demands are a complete debt waiver, a sugarcane price of INR 600 per quintal, and a requirement for 75% farmer consent for land acquisition. 

As per the farmer leaders, this yatra aims to unite the country in support of agricultural rights. The campaign will move across various states before reaching the national capital, marking a renewed phase of the ongoing farmer agitation for economic justice.
