Punjab Police clears Khanauri and Shambhu border, Roads to be open for traffic in 2-3 days latest news: In a dramatic turn of events, Punjab Police arrested top farmer leaders, such as Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher, upon their return from a meeting with central delegations in Chandigarh. The leaders were initially detained and later taken into police custody.

The police action included the clearance of protesting farmers from the Khanauri and Shambhu borders, where they had been rallying for more than a year. Temporary shelters built by the farmers were brought down with bulldozers, and cranes and recovery vans removed their belongings. Internet services in the area were also cut off as part of the operation.

The action has been condemned by all sides, with opposition parties and farmer bodies criticizing the crackdown. The protests, following demands for a legal assurance of Minimum Support Price (MSP) and other factors, have been an ongoing affair since February last year. The situation is tense as the police continue to remove the protest sites.
