Agriculture Department Cancels Fertilizer Dealer's License for Unauthorized Stockpiling
Strict Measures Against Hoarding and Black Market Activities: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav
The Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Department, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, has intensified its efforts to protect farmers from exploitation and ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential fertilizers like DAP. In a recent inspection, the department revoked the license of M/s Sharda Agro Chemicals in Ghagga for unauthorized stockpiling.
Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Jaswinder Singh confirmed that, as directed by Dr. Yadav, a district-wide inspection of fertilizer dealers is ongoing. During the inspection, M/s Sharda Agro Chemicals was found to be holding extra stock of urea and other fertilizers without updating its license.
This unauthorized inventory violated the terms of their license and Section 8 of the Fertilizer Control Order of 1985. Consequently, the firm’s sales operations were immediately suspended, and its license canceled.
Dr. Yadav emphasized that monitoring teams are active throughout Patiala to oversee the distribution of seeds, pesticides, and fertilizers. She warned that strict action will be taken against any individual or entity found exploiting farmers or engaging in illegal stockpiling practices.
