“On moral grounds, I did not pursue it”: Actor Prakash Raj after ED summon in betting app case

Actor Prakash Raj appears before ED in betting app case Latest News: Actor Prakash Raj on Wednesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at its Basheerbagh office in Hyderabad in connection with a case related to online betting apps.

According to a Times of India report, the actor clarified that he was approached in June 2016 by Junglee Rummy to appear in an advertisement for the app, to which he initially agreed. However, he soon became uncomfortable with the nature of the app. Despite his concerns, he was unable to withdraw from the endorsement immediately due to a one-year contract he had signed. He later discontinued his association with the app after realizing its negative impact on users.

Following the ED summons today, Prakash Raj spoke to the media and said, “This was a case of money laundering involving betting apps, and it was something I was connected to back in 2016. On moral grounds, I did not pursue it further, and I informed them that I did not receive any money because I chose not to profit from it. They have taken all the necessary details and completed the enquiry.”

He added, “The officers are doing their job, and as a citizen, I am expected to cooperate and answer their questions. There is no witch-hunting or political motivation in this.”
