Preity Zinta Contributes Rs 1.10 Crore to Army Wives latest news: Actress and co-owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings, Preity Zinta has recently donated Rs 1.10 crore to the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) under the South Western Command of the Indian Army.
During an event organized for AWWA, she addressed and interacted with the families of martyred soldiers. In a video shared on her Instagram handle, she said,
“Our Indian Army is not only valiant but incredibly brave — yet even braver and more heroic are the families of these soldiers. This is just a small tribute from our side.”
Preity shared details of her contribution in a heartfelt post on social media, accompanied by a moving caption.
“As I drove towards the auditorium in the South Western Command of the Indian Army, I saw posters of army officers and jawans at regular intervals, who had won various bravery awards. Some laid down their lives for our country, while others came back with scars from the battlefield. These men were husbands, sons, brothers, and fathers. They are part of our armed forces, and they gave up their today for our tomorrow!”
She described the emotional weight of the occasion, admitting how difficult it was to smile upon arriving at the event, she wrote,
“We will never know them. Most of us will never hear of them, think of them, or miss them. We might mention their sacrifice in a conversation and admire their bravery for a moment before getting on with our lives. This sad reality hit hard as I struggled to bring a smile to my face when I reached the event for the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA).”
Reflecting on the pain of families who have lost their loved ones, she added, “At the event, I met the women who would miss these men every day and every moment of their lives. I met their kids and I saw their smiles. There were no complaints and no tears — just pride, strength, and sacrifice. There was so much bravery in that auditorium, it humbled me beyond words. It was truly my honour to share the stage with these Veer Naris and their families.”
To express her gratitude and solidarity, she said the donation was her way of saying, “Thank you for your service and your sacrifice,” and “to let them know that they are not forgotten and that we are indebted to them forever.”
Her contribution came in the wake of Operation Sindoor, which followed the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed 26 innocent lives in the meadows of Baisaran in broad daylight.
Praising the courage of Indian soldiers and expressing deep gratitude, she wrote, “After the event, I left with a smile on my face and with so much gratitude in my heart. I know our country is in safe hands as long as heroes like these guard our borders. I did my part, and I sincerely hope each one of you can do yours by finding a way to say thank you to the families of our defence forces. Jai Hind.”
In the videos she shared, Preity can be seen interacting warmly with the families, taking pictures, and addressing the gathering at the South Western Command of the Indian Army.
