Sonu Nigam Faces Backlash Over Kannada Song Comment at Bengaluru Event latest news: In a recent controversy at a music concert in Bengaluru, celebrated playback singer Sonu Nigam was in the middle of a row that has triggered heated debate on artistic freedom, regional pride, and the duties of public life. On April 25, 2025, during a show at East Point College, someone in the audience asked Nigam to sing a Kannada song.

The accident was filmed on camera and went viral on the internet afterwards, fueling even more outrage. Following the episode, an FIR was registered against Nigam under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to encouraging hostility and offending linguistic feelings.

Since then, Nigam has moved to quash the FIR in the Karnataka High Court and a hearing will be held on May 15, 2025.
The scandal also had professional consequences. Seasoned Kannada director K Ramnarayan declared the elimination of two songs performed by Nigam from his next film "Kuladalli Keelyavudo," saying that Nigam's apology was not enough and that he should be punished for what he did.

Sonu Nigam concert controversy is a poignant reminder of the fine line artists have to tread between personal freedom of expression and cultural sensitivities. It points towards an increased dialogue and understanding in a multicultural society, where the arts remain a unifying factor bridging differences.
