Superstar Dhanush has been receiving a lot of love for his acting and his action in the film. Ever since the release of the film's trailer, people have been wondering if the 'Captain Miller' movie is based on a true real story. So, let's try to answer your queries like 'Who was Captain Miller?' or 'Is 'Captain Miller' a movie based on true events?'

'Captain Miller' Movie Real Life Story:

As per the report of Tamil Guardian, Captain Miller, the nom de guerre of Vallipuram Vasanthan, had carried out a 'Black Tiger' attack on a Sri Lankan Army garrison in Nelliyadi in the Jaffna district. He rode a truck with explosives into it on July 5, 1987. As many as 40 Sri Lankan soldiers were killed in the attack.

Just recently, Arun Matheswaran claimed that he was stopped from writing a film, specifically on the topic as “they said it was too controversial and it can't be released here. I also thought right, we can’t make that film here.”

To make it acceptable, Matheswaran set the story in the pre-independence era so no one raised questions and that there would be no controversy. Despite all of this, it is still a painful story.

To note, 'Black Tigers Day' is marked on July 5 in Tamil Eelam and across the world. In 2021, tens of thousands of Tamils rallied as part of the Pottuvil to Polikandy rally, when the protesters even held a minute’s silence in Nelliady to pay tribute to Captain Miller in his hometown.
