Char Dham circuit and adventure tourism schemes drive new momentum in the hill state.

The tourism sector in Uttarakhand has recorded a significant surge over the past five years. Compared to 2021, the number of foreign tourists visiting the state has increased nearly 17-fold, while the number of domestic tourists has crossed six crore.

BJP State President and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt attributed this growth to the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, and the hard work of the people of the state.

In response to a question raised by Mahendra Bhatt in the Rajya Sabha, Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Shekhawat provided year-wise data on tourist arrivals. Rajya Sabha member Bhatt said the figures clearly show that Uttarakhand is rapidly establishing a strong identity on the global tourism map.

He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's special focus on Uttarakhand, along with schemes promoting religious and adventure tourism—including the Char Dham circuit—and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's policies, have brought new energy to the tourism sector.

He further stated that since the formation of the state, the goal has been to develop Uttarakhand as a tourism hub, and this vision now appears to be gaining momentum. According to him, the hard work of local residents, improved hospitality, and the expansion of tourism facilities have also played an important role in this achievement. He expressed confidence that in the coming years, Uttarakhand will further strengthen its identity not just within the country, but among the world's leading tourist destinations.
