Muzaffarnagar deploys 2,500 CCTV cameras, AI drones along Kanwar Yatra route ahead of July 30

The Kanwar Yatra is scheduled to start on July 30 and will end on August 11. Police deployed AI-powered camera drones as an additional security measure on the Kanwar Yatra route in the Muzaffarnagar district to ensure a safe and peaceful pilgrimage, officials said on Saturday.

According to SSP Sanjai Kumar, CCTV cameras would be placed in the district's rural and urban regions that are part of the yatra route on the Ganga Canal road and the Delhi-Haridwar national highway. To assist police in identifying suspicious activity and taking prompt action, the cameras will produce real-time notifications. According to the SSP, drone cameras will also offer ongoing aerial monitoring. The district would have roughly 2,500 CCTV cameras installed. To guarantee cooperation during an emergency, personnel from the police, health, electrical, and sanitation sectors will be stationed at every police station along the Kanwar Yatra route.

According to Kumar, the state government has been asked to provide more workers for the Kanwariyas' security. CCTV cameras will be installed in every service camp and shivir, particularly in the kitchen area. Identity cards will be required for camp workers. The Muzaffarnagar district panchayat has decided to give pilgrims access to sufficient illumination and sanitary amenities. Reporters were informed by Panchayat Chairman Virpal Nirwal that generators will be used to provide temporary lighting on the 55-kilometer canal road at night. The Kanwariyas, who congregate in Haridwar annually to bathe in and gather water from the Ganga River in a "kanwar" and offer it to Lord Shiva, would benefit from sanitation amenities.
