UP minister Dharampal Singh hands over Rs 4 lakh compensation cheques to both bereaved families.

Two individuals, including a physically challenged boy, lost their lives in two separate incidents linked to heavy rainfall over the past three days in the Aonla tehsil area of Bareilly district, officials said on Friday.

The first incident occurred in the Kheda locality within Aonla municipality. Preet, a six-year-old differently-abled boy, slipped and fell into a drain while bathing amid the rain and was carried away by the powerful current. On being alerted, the district administration mobilised teams from the municipality, police, fire brigade, SDRF, and Flood PAC to the location. After a rescue effort spanning nearly 50 hours, the child's body was recovered.

The second incident happened in the Aliganj police station area, where 22-year-old Ajay drowned while bathing in the deep waters of the Ramganga river. Rescue operations began right away under the supervision of Additional District Magistrate (ADM) SK Singh. With assistance from the SDRF and local divers, the young man's body was retrieved from the river within roughly four hours. Both bodies were recovered by the district administration and rescue personnel. On Friday, Uttar Pradesh's Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Dharampal Singh presented cheques of Rs 4 lakh each to the bereaved families, officials added.
