Railway officials said initiative is intended to provide convenient transportation for thousands of aspirants.

Chandigarh: To facilitate smooth travel for candidates appearing in the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Level-1 examinations, Northern Railway has announced six special unreserved train services across Punjab. The additional trains will run between August 3 and August 6, aiming to accommodate the increased passenger rush during the examination period.

Railway officials said the initiative is intended to provide convenient transportation for thousands of aspirants travelling to various examination centres. Since all six services will operate as unreserved trains, passengers can board them by purchasing regular unreserved tickets from station booking counters.

The special trains will connect major stations, including Amritsar, Ferozepur Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar City, Phagwara and Muktsar, making travel easier for candidates from different regions of Punjab.

Details of the Special Services

Train No. 04601 will operate from Ferozepur Cantt to Amritsar, departing daily at 11:00 pm from August 3 to August 6, with a scheduled halt at Jalandhar City.

The return service, Train No. 04602, will leave Amritsar Junction at 4:20 pm on the same dates and will also stop at Jalandhar City before reaching Ferozepur Cantt.

For candidates travelling from Ludhiana, Train No. 04603 will depart Ludhiana Junction at 4:25 am daily for Jalandhar City throughout the examination period.

Meanwhile, Train No. 04604 will provide the return journey, departing Jalandhar City at 8:50 pm for Ludhiana.

Another special service, Train No. 04605, will leave Muktsar at 12:15 am, passing through Kotkapura, Faridkot, Ferozepur Cantt and Ludhiana Junction before reaching Phagwara.

Its corresponding return service, Train No. 04606, will depart Phagwara Junction at 4:20 pm, covering the same stations in reverse order before terminating at Muktsar.

Railway Advisory for Passengers

Northern Railway has advised candidates to verify train schedules before commencing their journey by contacting the Railway Helpline 139 or checking the official railway enquiry portal.

Passengers have also been urged to reach railway stations well in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience. Officials expressed hope that the additional services would significantly reduce travel difficulties and ensure candidates can reach their examination centres comfortably during the four-day recruitment examination schedule.
