Sikh community expresses strong outrage over act of sacrilege; police reach spot, launch investigation

In a shocking incident from Pehowa town in Kurukshetra, copies of Gutka Sahib along with idols and photographs of Hindu deities were found dumped in a dirty drain on Gaushala Road on Tuesday evening, sparking outrage among the local Sikh community. Members of the Sikh community gathered at the site upon learning of the incident and raised strong objections. Local police also reached the spot after being informed.

According to those present, the matter came to light when a young girl was seen carrying a copy of Gutka Sahib. A woman noticed the child and asked her where she had gotten it from. The girl was taken to a nearby gurdwara, where it was initially suspected that the Gutka Sahib may have gone missing from there. However, gurdwara officials clarified that it did not belong to them. As the matter appeared serious, the child was questioned further, and she revealed that she had picked it up from a nearby drain.

Upon inspection of the drain, several copies of Gutka Sahib were found lying there, along with copies of Hanuman Chalisa and photographs of Hindu deities. The discovery of both religious texts and idols discarded in this manner triggered outrage among members of the Sikh community, who saw it as an act of disrespect toward religious articles. Police were subsequently called to the scene. The community has now demanded that CCTV cameras in the surrounding area be checked to identify those responsible for the act of sacrilege.

Investigating Officer Sunil Vats, who reached the spot, said that police received information about the Gutka Sahib being found in the drain, along with photographs of deities and wedding invitation cards. He said police will investigate the matter, CCTV footage from the area will be examined, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
