Sikh Community Seeks Justice for Inderjit Singh's Assault, Investigation Points to Hate Crime

Sikh News: In a disturbing incident in South-East England, a 14-year-old has been apprehended for the brutal assault on 58-year-old Inderjit Singh, an elderly Sikh, in what authorities are investigating as a hate crime. The attack occurred on November 21 in Langley Memorial Park, Slough, leaving Singh with three broken ribs and injuries to his hand.

Inderjit Singh was walking through the park when he was accosted by a group of boys aged 13 to 16. Thames Valley Police are treating the incident as a hate crime and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Detective Constable Holly Baxter, the investigating officer, emphasized the serious consequences of hate crimes on victims and communities. Inderjit Singh's injuries included three broken ribs, swelling, and cuts on his hand.

Following the assault, Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Salo issued a statement condemning the attack and urging witnesses to come forward. The Gurdwara emphasized zero tolerance for such incidents within the Sikh community in Salo. Police have increased patrolling in the area, and representatives from the Gurdwara have engaged with law enforcement to address concerns.

Inderjit Singh, who has been residing in Slough for 30 years, expressed his concern about safety after the incident. He highlighted the fact that the attackers did not steal anything from him, indicating that the assault was likely a hate crime. Singh's ordeal has sparked broader concerns within the Sikh community about the rise of hate crimes, prompting increased vigilance and caution.
